Ballet/Tap Examining Students
Due to the seriousness of Ballet/Tap technique it is mandatory for all students to pass their exam before going on to the next level.
If they are absent or unavailable to attend the exam for any reason they will repeat the year and take the exam the following year.
Some students will not be taking the exam this year because they require more training.
The Ballet and Tap program provides a foundation to help the dancer reach the best training possible. All too often people (this of course includes parents and teachers!) would like to see a child perform advanced routines well before the student is ready to do so. We all know of the adage which advises that one must “crawl” before “walking” and “walk” before “running”. Some dance systems exist which involve much “running” from those who can barely “crawl”. Generation Dance would like to embrace the notion that immeasurable satisfaction is gained from a simple thing done well. This is why we ask that students repeat a level to get the best possible understanding of the curriculum. Pointe work is also in the near future of most of these students and therefore, we have to have careful evaluation of their placement.
