Kim Hurley - Artistic Director

 

 

 

Kim specializes in Jazz, Lyrical, Hip Hop and Musical Theatre. She had attended the Dance Educators of America Teacher training Program where she spent 3 summers obtaining her teaching certificate in all areas and levels. She has worked on local performances for “A Chorus Line”, “Fame”, and “Grease”. She has taken many professional classes in LA, Florida, NY and Las Vegas to further her knowledge. She has worked on choreography for neighbouring Alberta schools and is sought after across the province for her teaching skills. She has been recognized by agents who represent Dance Educators for her choreography. Recently she choreographed Keyano Theatre's 2011 Musical "All Shook Up". She has also won the 2011 and 2012 "Create Award" aboard Carnival Cruise Lines with Celebrity Dance for her choreography. She prides herself on her dancers’ accomplishments – as they have obtained numerous national titles with her choreography and training. Her expertise as an instructor and studio director has given her dancers key elements in life long dance careers. GDS dancers are respected by others as genuine, humble, and extremely talented individuals.

Melinda Stepanowich - Assistant Director

Melinda began her dance training at Generation Dance studio. At the age of fifteen Melinda was one of two Canadians chosen out of hundreds of dancers from the United States to take part in a six week US National Tour with Hoctor’s Dance Caravan. At seventeen Melinda moved to Vancouver where she became a member of The Source Dance Company under the direction of Joanne Pesusich. Performing in such shows as: "Zig or Zag…" "The Choice is Yours", "Scratch That", "Grease", "Fashion Music Arts Awards" and "For the Love of it". She has won and received numerous awards and scholarships for her dance and chorography abilities. Winning the 2009 Young Choreographer award at Edmonton’s American Dance Awards for her contemporary group number called “Walk the Line.” Melinda is also an up and coming young playwright who’s play "Rez In The City" has been showcased two years in a row at Native Earths Performing Arts Wessageechak Theatre festival in Toronto; Along with this years Cross Currents at Factory Theatre in Toronto. She has just graduated Toronto Media and Film College and has currently just wrapped working on the first season of "BLACKSTONE", which will be shown on Showcase and APTN in early 2011. Many people say this young woman has a very bright and promising career ahead of her.
